Restaurant Spotlights Along The Trail

When you're in Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou surrounded by rich, creamy plates of homemade crawfish etoufee and just-caught shrimp fried to a golden crisp, it's all too easy to work up an appetite quick. So where to start enjoying the best authentic South Louisiana cuisine? The Cajun Bayou Food Trail provides a great introduction, charting a path through fifteen exceptional eateries in Lafourche Parish. Here are just a few of the highlights along the way:

When Bill Spahr opened the original Spahr's Seafood Restaurant in 1968, he wanted to serve his community traditional Cajun and Creole recipes prepared with the freshest seafood caught from their own bayous. Half a century later and with three locations across Lafourche, the mission hasn't changed.  It's pretty safe to say they're succeeding, but you can judge for yourself when you bite into “The Original” Catfish Chips at Spahr's Seafood in Des Allemands, Spahr's Downtown in Thibodaux, or Spahr's at the Station in Galliano.

Local staple Gina's At The Legion, formerly The Venetian Food & Spirits, recently opened in its new location in downtown Thibodaux. But fortunately some things haven't changed, namely their devotion to providing patrons with good down-home food and a genuinely great time. Warm and friendly service, often punctuated by a visit from Gina herself, makes every patron feel at home, no matter how far they've traveled.  Bonus: Every other Wednesday is Cajun Jam night, so you can soak up some local culture with your ears as well as your taste buds!

Nestled in Moran's Marina where Old Highway 1 meets the new, C Moran's Seafood Restaurant offers many tempting items of both the surf and the turf varieties, but the real hook for sportsmen returning triumphant from a long fishing trip is the “Cook Your Catch” option. What better way to celebrate the day's haul than by having it served up professionally in the style and flavor of your choice? Plus, Moran's is a one-stop shop, with a marina, overnight accommodations (both wet and dry), charter fishing services, and more on site.

Whether you're grabbing a quick oyster poboy on the go or sitting down to a celebratory steak dinner, every bite along the Cajun Bayou Food Trail is worth savoring. Don't forget to pick up your passport from the Visitor Center in Raceland or online and collect your stamps at each location! It's hungry work, but someone's gotta do it.
