Abduction from the Seraglio
Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts 1419 Basin Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70116
The Abduction from the Seraglio brings together all the best of classic theatre—disguise, sleeping potions slipped into wine, and the prevailment of all that is noble. In Director Alison Moritz's reimagining of Mozart's classic comedy, Constanza, Blondchen, and Pedrillo are shaded in film noir style and the story is set in a nightclub—though Mozart's ageless music go largely unchanged. Mortiz's recent productions have been lauded as "astute," "imaginative," and "elegantly sexy" by Opera News.
For the New Orleans Opera Association's presentation of Seraglio at Mahalia Jackson Theater, she has partnered with NOOA General and Artistic Director Robert Lyall, the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, and the New Orleans Opera Chorus. Featured performers will include visiting artists Heather Phillips, Katrina Galke, Joshua Dennis, Matthew Grills, and Timothy Bruno, as well as local artist Kenneth Weber.

Guests are invited to join NOOA one hour prior to each show for "Nuts & Bolts," the association's free, informative lecture's about the opera. On Sunday, brunch will also be available at the theater before the show; reservations required. $30–$230. neworleansopera.org
