In celebration of the legacy of Tennessee Williams, Le Petit Theatre presents the New Orleans premiere of Baby Doll, based on the one-act play "27 Wagons Full of Cotton," and the screenplay for the 1965 film. The dark comedy is set in the sweltering summer heat of 1950s Mississippi and explores desires, desperation, and prejudices of two rival cotton gin owners and their attempts to seduce a young bride after a suspected arson. The performance will be directed by Le Petit Theatre Artistic Director Maxwell Williams, and the cast includes Maggie Windler as Baby Doll Meighan, Paul Whitty as Archie Lee Meighan; Todd D'Amour as Silva Vicarro, and Janet Shea as Aunt Rose Comfort. Performances will be held Thursdays–Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 3 pm March 15–31. $15–$55. lepetittheatre.com
