Cultural Gumbo
Main Library at Goodwood 7711 Goodwood Boulevard, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70806
An initiative by the Main Library's Special Literacy Projects, Cultural Gumbo is a new program designed to bring families together to experience the joy of literature, with a focus on cultural diversity. Every Monday in March, children ages 5-11 are invited, along with their parents, to participate in a reading of two stories focusing on different cultures each week including the Ethiopian, Chinese, Cherokee Native American, and Yiddish cultures. Afterwards, there will be a group discussion on the stories. Each family will receive a free cultural gumbo tote bag, and are encouraged to check out the two books shared during the program for discussion at the next meeting. At the Main Branch Library from 6 pm–8 pm. Registration required at (225) 924-9389. ebrpl.com.
