The Great Louisiana BirdFest
to
Northlake Nature Center 23135 Highway 190, Mandeville, Louisiana 70448
Bird watchers—novices and experts alike—travel from all over to attend this premier birding event sponsored by Northlake Nature Center. Spring migration, when numerous migrant bird species pass through South Louisiana on their way from Mexico and South America, makes for ideal birdwatching conditions. Field trips visit bird-friendly locales like Joyce Wildlife Management Area/Manchac Swamp, Big Branch (by night, even), Bogue Chitto River Reserve, and Honey Island Swamp. New this year, there will also be a Sunset Eagles Boat Tours with Captain Billy's Cajun Man's Swamp Tours and adventures, which will tour the Atchafalaya Basin's ten eagle nests and their families. There is also a BirdFest Social for some twittering of the human persuasion. Times and more info at northlakenature.org/birdfest.
