Kota Ezawa: Two Views
to
Hilliard Art Museum 710 East St. Mary Boulevard, Lafayette, Louisiana 70503
In a new exhibit at the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum this month, one of the world's preeminent appropriation artists Kota Ezawa recreates images from iconic films, and alters them to generate new meanings. Ezawa's images are created using rotoscope animation, tracing and filling every image from the original footage. The result is a copy of the world that is familiar, but simplified to where it becomes difficult to understand. In this exhibit, Ezawa recreates images from The Crime of Artare and City of Nature. The collection will be on display from May 10–August 24. hilliardmuseum.org.
