Laudato Si Confronts Climate Change 2020
St. Joseph Abbey and Seminary College 75376 River Road, Louisiana 70457
In Pope Francis's challenging 2015 Environmental Encyclical, known as Laudato Si: On Care for Our Common Home, the Pope appealed to every person on our planet for an inclusive dialogue about how we can best shape the future of our world, saying that mankind has a "vocation as protectors of God's handiwork," and that this vocation "is not an optional or secondary aspect of our Christian experience."
This month, Saint Joseph Abbey and Seminary College presents a three-week lecture series closely examining the challenges that Pope Francis addresses. Matt Rousso, Director of Maryknoll Mission Center, will lead these sessions, exploring the science of climate change and ways to engage in ecological conversion. Tuesdays, March 3–March 17 rom 5:45 pm–7:30 pm in the seminary's Hospitality Center. Free and open to the public. Scheduled lectures include:
March 3: A Bold Manifesto on Climate Change
March 10: The Science is Clear
March 17: The Gospel of Creation
