This month at the Hill Memorial Library, enjoy two distinct perspectives on typeface history and design, thanks to LSU Professor of Art Lynne Baggett's diligent research into incised letterforms on gravestones from the British Isles and colonial New England and LSU Libraries' extensive collection of the works of Master American book designer and typographer Bruce Rogers (most renowned for crafting the Centaur font). Letterform Characters: From Stone Carver to Type Designer will be on view from October 9—February 17, 2018. Presented by LSU Libraries Special Collections and LSU School of Art.
Don't miss: On Wednesday, November 15, renowned British type designer Matthew Carter will speak at the LSU School of Art and Design Building on "Bruce Rogers' Centaur Type.” Design Building Room 103 at 5 pm with reception to follow at Hill Memorial Library 6:30 pm–8:30 pm. Free.
