Spend the summer learning new and innovative strategies in the garden with a little help from the green thumbs at All You Need (formerly Southbound Gardens). The grassroots education and community center focuses on providing tools and knowledge regrading sustainable living and holistic health. March offerings include:
- April 29, Grow Mushrooms on Coffee Grounds, Paper, and More!: Learn the basics of fungal ecology from guest teacher, professional mushroom grower Leif Olson. Olson will demonstrate easy mushroom growing techniques like inoculating buckets with pasteurized straw, coffee grounds, and paper. Located at All You Need, 3700 Toledano Street. 5 pm–8 pm. $35.
- April 30, Fungi for Gardening and Beyond: Discover easy methods for incorporating fungi into garden beds, compost, and wood chip mushroom beds to improve your landscape health and productivity, and to get some mushrooms while you're at it! Located at All You Need, 3700 Toledano Street. 5 pm–8 pm. $30.
- May 7, Creating Edible Ecosystems: Feed yourself and nurture plants, animals, and soil too. Located at Grow On Urban Farm, 235 Urquhart Street. 5:30 pm–7 pm $20.
- May 11, Intro to Permaculture: Permaculture is a way of designing living environments that is founded in the ethics of caring for people and the planet, and using our natural systems. Learn how permaculture relates to your life, and what kind of strategies you might incorporate into your design plans. Located at Grow On Urban Farm, 235 Urquhart Street. 5:30 pm–7 pm $20.
