Is there anything more quintessentially southern than sipping bourbon and cokes, folding laundry, and gossiping on the front porch? We can't think of much. That's how James McLure's play Laundry & Bourbon opens, and when characters Elizabeth and Hattie hear from meddlesome Amy Lee that Elizabeth's husband has been seen in town with another woman. Bitter humor, female resilience, and the turmoil that Vietnam veterans faced returning from war are threaded throughout this truthful drama. Bring your picnic blanket, mask, and beverage of choice for this socially-distanced outdoor theatre event at the Pointe-Marie Village Pavilion. Blouin's Cafe will be open serving snacks and sandwiches. Doors at 1pm, reading begins at 2pm. redmagnoliatc.org.
