Sharon Kopriva: No Small Thing
to
Hilliard Art Museum 710 East St. Mary Boulevard, Lafayette, Louisiana 70503
In Sharon Kopriva's exhibition, on display at the Hilliard University Art Museum, ideas, subjects, and experiences are condensed—made small, to elicit senses of the immense. She plays with the balance of detail vs. overall composition and how it relates to meaning, significance, power, and control. Small decisions have large consequences, and yet individuals—in a continuum of shared experience—are inevitably always subject to larger powers, institutions, and feelings. Kopriva's art is made all the more compelling by her wildly fascinating sources of subject matter, ranging from Nazca funerary complexes to biblical plagues to Peruvian hairless dogs and seminal cultural figures. Her work will be on display in the exhibition, No Small Thing, from September 13, 2019–January 4, 2020. hilliardmuseum.org.
