Digital Library
Sponsored by the East Baton Rouge Parish Library
Card catalogues are so twentieth century … and the East Baton Rouge Parish Library knows it. EBRPL has partnered with several major entertainment services to bring its patrons a huge variety of digital content, available anytime. Here are a few of their most popular.
OverDrive features ebooks, audiobooks, and even movies with over sixty thousand titles so far, all of which you can stream or download to your digital device. The files will return themselves automatically when your loan is up, saving you an errand (and a late fine).
Freegal (get it? Free and legal.) lets you stream unlimited music from its collection and download seven music files each week per Library account. It also has a phone app for on-the-go listening.
InstantFlix is the film buff's best friend, providing independent movies and documentaries. If critics drooled over it at Sundance, Tribeca, or Cannes, you can find it here. Movies are streamed to your device, including those that will project the movie directly to your TV.
Qello showcases over 1,700 live concerts across all genres, from the beginning of recording in the 1920s to today, along with a number of music documentaries. As with the others, you can stream these directly from the website or use the free app to enjoy this collection.
Finally, Zinio is your new source for digital magazines, with periodicals covering all interest areas available for download—and you keep the download as long as you like! It's even easier than snagging paper magazines from your doctor’s waiting room.
All of these collections and many more are completely free and accessible on any smart device, computer or laptop with Library membership and accessible through the Library website: ebrpl.com/DigitalLibrary. Also, note that you can now apply for a Library card directly from the Library website and access all of these materials—and more—in literally minutes.
