Global Wildlife Center is thrilled to welcome the talented and personable Kanyon McLean, DVM to the team in a newly created on-staff position, Director of Animal Programs. Dr. Kanyon (as she prefers to be called) brings a wealth of zoo/wildlife animal experience and a demonstrated devotion to conservation initiatives. In her position as Director of Animal Programs, Dr. Kanyon arrives with a mission of elevating Global Wildlife Center’s work with the resident animal population to new heights. On her to-do list for Global Wildlife Center: Zoological Association of America accreditation, expansion of the education program to incorporate ambassador animals, animal behavior training for medical procedures and developing a student externship program partnership with Louisiana State University Veterinary School.

A graduate of Ohio State University in veterinary medicine, Dr. Kanyon moved to Global Wildlife Center this February after 5-years at the Montgomery Zoo. In her first month at Global Wildlife she has blown the team away with her extensive knowledge, infectious laugh, ever-present smile, and can-do team-player attitude.
