Having Fun in the Pass

Coastal fun for everyone

While there’s a lot—an awful lot—to be said for relaxing beachside, that’s far from your only option in the Pass. The area is a great place to play, shop, and dine, each with a little Pass Christian flair.

Pass Christian sits right against one of the South’s best playgrounds: the Gulf of Mexico. Serious sportsmen and casual water lovers alike can sail, fish, or just play in the water: charter a boat, bring your own craft, or just splash around to your heart’s content. When you need to dry off a little, there’s nearly as much fun to be had on the shore: Pass Christian has easy access to two golf courses, or you can bike through one of the area's parks to work up a sweat and with it a reason to get back in the water.

Shoppers face a serious problem in Pass Christian: where will you put everything you buy? The downtown area boasts a number of locally owned boutiques, offering a wide array of gifts—it’s still a gift if you buy it for yourself! You earned it. Browse fishing gear, clothes, handmade soap, jewelry, and tasty food, and make sure to swing by the galleries and cigar shop. For a more unusual but equally rewarding shopping experience, head to the harbor. Fishermen will sell their catches of the day, and you can walk back to the hotel with the freshest possible Gulf seafood, ready to be cooked right up or frozen to enjoy at home.

When you get hungry, there’s no need to go far. Pass Christian offers any kind of restaurant you might want, with Chinese, sushi, and steak restaurants—but it’ll be hard to be beat fresh Gulf seafood, maybe caught even earlier that day.  Save at least one meal to try a particular Mississippi take on the po-boy: they’re still made on Leidenheimer’s bread, but they’re pressed. Any innovation that makes a sandwich easier to eat is certainly worth looking into.
