Special Events in the Pass

The Pass is a great choice for a holiday escape

Pass Christian has a year-round calendar of special events to lure the traveler looking for a special way to spend a special day. One of the keystone celebrations is Christmas in the Pass, a family-friendly seaside take on the classic small-town Christmas. The cornerstone is the lighting of the city Christmas tree, timed to coincide with Santa’s arrival. Immediately following, take in the parade, which will travel down historic downtown’s Davis Avenue, led by a who’s-who of small town pride: firemen with an antique fire truck, the superb high school band, classic cars, representatives from the local elf community, and scads of pirates (supposedly alumni of the local high school dressed for the festivities, but you can never be sure). The next day, head to the park for an extra treat, the Paw Parade, in which local dogs steal the show (and can have their pictures made with Santa).

If you can’t make it for Christmas (or don’t get your fill of Pass Christian fun from just one holiday in town), fear not:  there’s plenty more happening throughout the year. Pass Christian has one of the oldest and most enjoyable Mardi Gras events on the coast—like every occasion in Pass Christian, it can be a great time for the whole family, so bring the kids to this all-ages civic celebration. The Art in the Pass festival celebrates the area’s artistic soul every April, and Cruisin’ the Coast, a weeklong celebration of classic cars, comes by every fall. There’s no bad time to visit the Pass! For a full calendar of events and details, visit passmainstreet.com.
