Where to Stay in the Pass

New hotels offer your choice of luxury

Pass Christian has been a comfortable, luxurious getaway destination for over a century, but that doesn’t mean it’s content to rest on its laurels. Recently, two new boutique hotels opened in downtown Pass Christian, offering vacationers a difficult, if not unpleasant, choice between two enviably situated, excellently appointed homes away from home.

Hotel Pass Christian offers a unique, eclectic style: nothing here is in that boring style owner Jourdan Nicaud calls “hotel white.” The patterns and colors give away a family touch (many of the unique pieces in the hotel were picked out by Nicaud’s mother), and the overall vibe evokes seaside aesthetics from Nantucket to Bali. Guests can pick their own rooms, choosing from a variety of tempting options, including some connecting units for families or friends looking to share a getaway. As a bonus, the hotel is also equipped with huge balconies—just the thing for savoring coffee in the morning or something a bit more “medicinal” at night. An expansive upstairs area is also available for rent for anyone needing a staging area—think weddings, family reunions, or other get-togethers. Learn more at hotelpasschristian.com.

Hotel Whiskey is just three hundred feet from the beach; they’ve timed it out, and that’s a one-minute walk. They offer a number of special packages, from a set of balcony-connected rooms for groups looking for a place to gather to an intimate “date night” offering that comes with champagne. If you book two nights, you can enjoy a free sunset cruise, just the ticket for beginning a romantic evening or ending a full day of seaside fun. Hotel Whiskey is also the home of Whiskey Prime, a new steakhouse serving excellent beef and fresh fish as well as offering a full bar. (The wine list features a special section on “Interesting Reds,” which is certainly the kind of listing that could pique your interest.)
