Bugs & Brew For Drew: A Crawfish Cook-off
A crawfish boiling competition, craft beer, local music, and children’s entertainment. What could go wrong?
Fulton Street Square 228 Poydras Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70115
The Drew Rodrigue Foundation (DRF) has just announced the annual Bugs & Brew for Drew Crawfish Cook-off and Beer Festival, returning on Fulton Street Square. The free-admission event offers a crawfish boiling competition, craft beer, local music, and children’s entertainment, all benefitting the Drew Rodrigue Foundation, a local non-profit which celebrates heroes in the face of adversity, in honor of Drew Rodrigue, a local football coach who battled cancer. This year's proceeds will support the Foundation’s initiative to help build a new pediatric oncology recreation center at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge. Fifteen teams from around the region will compete for the titles of “Best Crawfish” and “Best Lagniappe.” And of course, Bugs & Brew features a culinary aspect, offering crawfish-inspired dishes from several New Orleans restaurants including Galatoire’s, Rock-N-Sake, Manning’s and the newly opened DTB. Beer selections come courtesy of Yeungling, Parish, 40 Arpent and more. With live music by Honey Island Swamp Band, Me & My Friends, and Soul Project NOLA. 3 pm–8 pm. Free. bugsandbrew.com.
